The New York Yoga Society, or Ananda Ashram, was opened in 1964 by Sri
Bramananda Saraswati, and has remained a place of peaceful inquiry since
his passing in 1993. This precious jewel at the foot of the Catskills awaits
your discovery.
For Autumn Splendor, our group will do asana classes and other planned
activities apart from the ashram. Yet we are invited to reap the
unparalleled wisdom of its offerings, including meditation, chanting, yoga
philosophy, and Sanskrit studies with resident masters.
Our first asana class, Friday at 4:00 p.m., is followed by dinner overlooking
the lake, fire ceremony, meditation, led chanting, and the evening ashram
program. Saturday morning yoga with Carrie will unfurl you into the day's
activities: breakfast, morning program, then free time before lunch for
dreaming over the lake, hiking, or lounging amid the soughing trees.
Attend 3 p.m. meditation or play, read, write, or rest till 4, when we'll do our
more vigorous asana practice, followed by dinner and evening program.
Sunday morning schedule is the same, followed by lunch, free time, and our
last asana class and closing session. Participants are welcome to stay for
dinner ($10 add'l) and evening program before leaving.
And so Ananda, with its pacific intensity, cozy accommodations, and
delectable vegetarian fare, will support our salutations to Autumn 2012.
