Ananda Ashram Monroe NY 2019 TBD
Since 2004 Carrie has been bringing groups to the New York Yoga Society's Ananda Ashram, a center for peaceful inquiry opened in 1964 by Sri Brahmananda Saraswati. An easy bus, train or car ride from New York, this precious jewel at the foot of the Catskill Mountains awaits your discovery.
On weekend retreats, our group does asana classes and other activities apart from the ashram. Yet we are invited to reap the unparalleled wisdom of its offerings: meditation, joyous music, philosophy and Sanskrit studies with resident masters. And so the bliss of Ananda, with its pacific intensity and delectable vegetarian fare, supports our idyllic exploration—and celebration—of life and yoga.
Dorm rates of $349 ($399 semiprivate, $299 camping) include:
Five yoga sessions with Carrie
A.M./P.M. fire ceremony/meditation/optional Sanskrit study
Six delectable meals (Fri dinner thru Sun lunch)
Two nights’ lodging (simple, restful rooms w shared bath)
Free time for hiking/lounging and treatments/sauna at Lotus Shala
